Brews For My Buddies!

If you follow me on Twitter you know that the Central New York Brewfest (aka Suzi’s holiday) is upon us.  Tomorrow to be exact!! WHOOO HOOOOOO!! My family and I attend this event every year…Me, Frankie, my mom, my uncles, my grandfather, my cousins…pretty much every male in the family, then my mom and I and my female cousin LOL.

We have the best time and it’s really the only day of the year where I drink “real” beer. Even though I drink “girly water” beer 98% of the time, I do enjoy and appreciate a good brew. Getting to walk around for 3 hours sampling all the different qualities of beer is AWESOME!!

Actually, the CNY Brewfest this year has got me thinking...with Weight Watchers Points+, beer is more points now. There is the saying of quality vs. quantity. So what if I really pay attention to what I’m drinking this year and started building my own 6 packs at Wegmans (you can do that here…its awesome) and drank only 1 or 2 a night….Hmmmm….Could Suzi do that??

Anyways, I want to sample everything and then some, but I’d like to sample some for YOU!!

So here’s the deal…Down below is a list of all the breweries that will be there. Just leave me a comment telling me which vendor you would like me to try and if you want to put down their specific beer I can see if they have it and sample that! I am going to try and document it as much as I can…the drunker I get the harder it will be ;)
You have until about 11:00 am (eastern time) tomorrow to comment.

Which beer am I dedicating to you????

Also as I stated in my last post, there is something kind of wicked cool that might happen there but I wont really know if it will pull through or not, but if it does I will be sure to share on the Brewfest follow up post!!

P.S. I did something last night and all my blog roll list is gone! Grrrrr. I will be fixing that soon. Sorry :(

  1. I'd vote for Lagunitas or Great Lakes brewing. Have fun at the event, pace yourself!

  2. Hi, Suzi! I'm a long-time reader and never commenter, but also a massive beer geek on WW. If any of the vendors happen to carry New Holland beers (not to be confused with New Belgium - e.g. Fat Tire, Ranger IPA, etc), you have to try something from them! I'm from Georgia, and we don't have a distributor that carries New Holland here. However, it is seriously one of the best breweries in the country! If they aren't at your fest, you definitely need to give Lagunitas a go - although, I'm sure you have probably already tried them :) Their cappuccino stout is fantastic. Bells is also a solid brewery. All that matters, though, is that you have fun and try as many crazy, not really available to the public, beers as you can!

  5. Um, I totally want you to drink Original Sin Cider for me...that right up my ally! :)

Have fun! I can't wait to hear all about it!

  6. Bah... WannabeRunner stole my Smuttynose so I guess grab a Newcastle or Amstel for me. Have fun!

  7. I can just imagine how you feel. I feel the same way about GenCon every year.

    Have a ton of fun!

  8. McSorley's is a fun beer - not sure if they'll have 'light' or 'dark' (pale ale or black lager), but they're fun beers with a neat history in NY.

I'm also a big Great Divide fan... check out their Yeti and St. Bridget's Porter.

  9. Being from Cleveland, I must suggest Great Lakes Brewing Company. My current favorite is the Conway's Irish Ale but the Dortmunder is a good standard. Smuttynose and Magic Hat make some good brews too. As well as Ommegang. Their Witte beer is light as a feather ( in tast that is). Enjoy!

  10. As a Vermonter I must request that you try a Wolaver's! Yum.

  11. I am INSISTING you drink a Great Lakes for me! My favorite part of Cleveland that I miss so much out here on the west coast!

  12. Innis and Gunn!!!!! They have a "to die for" IPA and most of their beers are oak aged, so they are reminiscent of a traditional scotch ale...some are a little too sweet for me, but they are worth a shot (or six). Also, Otter Creek is awesome.

  13. Smuttynose is an amazing beer!

but I'd have to say drink #7, #8, #22 (stoudts) for me, all of them are awesome breweries that I love!

  14. Dos Equis reminds me of Mexico! Go for that! I'm also a fan of specialty/flavoured beers (I had a great pomegranate beer last fall), if you see something like that have one for me!!

  15. Since I'm Irish, I have to go with Guinness!! Plus that is some good beer! It always makes me enjoy myself. It's been so long since I've had some. Have fun, girl!! xoxo

  16. I would go with Magic Hat - #9, Howl and Vinyl are awesome.

North Coast - I had the Thelonious Monk last night - wonderful!!

    Anything by Great Lakes

Enjoy the day and the many brews.

  17. Hey Sue - Chrissy from WW - Happy Suzi Holiday! - Since the woodchuck says spring is around the corner I would suggest trying Woodchuck Brewing Company. Have a great weekend

  18. Suzy - by a true PNW beer snob, #24 North Coast makes some stellar beers. I'd also recommend #22 Elysian. I haven't had Magic Hat but it piques my interest. I'm from Cleveland and I like some of the specialty beers (their brown, they have a special red)but otherwise (no offense folks) most of their brews are average at best. I'd be interested in Cooperstown, Sky Fox & Great Divide - not knowing anything about them though. Also, go for what the person from Vermont recommended - VT folks generally really know their beers.

  19. Sierra Nevada and Anchor Steam make tasty brews! Have fun!

  20. I generally prefer Guiness whenever possible, but since these are your beer "shout outs", I'll have to go with Brooklyn brewery. Represent, yo!

  21. I have absolutely no idea which to vote for, but I'm living vicariously through you on this one. Have a great time. Cheers!!!!

  22. I just found your blog....i love you :) I am also on WW, but everyone gasps in SHOCKING stares whenever I say that I still drink beer while on program. Seriously. I just want to tell them to be real. I will definitely be following along with you, CONGRATS on your success! I am down 62.8 but still have some ways to go.
